How to record simply
I have a line 6 POD, ibanez rg something (its japanese though!) and fairly up there pc
i run through pod then into line in on soundcard but i cant seem to get the sound coming thru "crackle" free. its not speaker crackle but just noise likes its being overdriven. also have a few latency troubles if i get the crackle to go away could you give me a run down on how to set it up good good? i have audicity, cool edit pro 2 and adobe audition (but thats really confusing) help please |

RE: How to record simply
I go straight trough line in, but I actually found realtek better than soundblaster when dealing with direct line in.
Soundblaster normally is the one for latency issues, but like Rocklander for my new pc I ended up getting a Tascam US-144 |

RE: How to record simply
Have you checked the output levels of the Pod? Sounds like it's too hot of a signal. Either that or check the input level of your soundcard. I can dig deeper when I get a computer again. Should be shortly.

RE: How to record simply
that crackle is digital distortion.you're overloading the input. on regular soundcards there is no analog buffer circuit to give you a little extra headroom. the buffer is there to go into analog clipping first, which is much better sounding than digital clipping. gotta get an audio interface, external preferably, such as a presonus inspire gt. firewire has less latency, mine is 1.5ms, wich is not noticable. btw rob gets a pretty good sound out of his pod direct.

If y'all dumb it down x 1000, I might just ... and ONLY just get the gist of what you're saying... hehe.
note to self To avoid looking silly, I will avoid tech threads.
